Crampons

Whether it's walking across a glacier or climbing up a frozen waterfall, crampons provide the traction required for any technical winter adventure. The most important thing is to wear crampons that are sized correctly and are compatible with your style of boots.

  • Frame: Flexible, Semi-Rigid
  • Binding: Strap-On, Hybrid
  • Materials: Steel or Aluminum
  • Points: 10
  • Weight: 1.5 - 2 Pounds
  • Best Uses: Glacier Travel, Ski Mountaineering

These crampons fit the largest number of boots and are geared toward low-angle walking across snow or glaciers. Walking crampons have a maximum of ten points, a flexible frame, and either a strap-on or hybrid binding system that is compatible with soft boots. Though this style of crampon is best at lower angle snow, it can also get by on steeper terrain. The frame on these crampons are made from either steel or aluminum.

If you are doing easier mountaineering routes or long-approaches, this is the crampon for you.
